January Feature 2010 – Swans of the Tyne Exhibition
Swans of the Tyne Exhibition, Discovery Museum

The Swans of the Tyne exhibition at Discovery Museum explores the legacy of our local Swan Hunter Shipyard which was responsible for some of the greatest ships of the 20th century.

In collaboration with Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and the Discovery Museum, JUMP was commissioned to design and brand the ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) area of the exhibition. This included designing a ten metre long panel highlighting the events and incidents surrounding five of the famous Cunard ocean liners, as well as the entrance to the exhibition itself. JUMP was also commissioned to design a branded 16 page booklet which explores the responses of local ESOL students to the stories of the Cunard liners through creative writing and poetry.

The exhibition can currently be viewed in the People’s Gallery at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle until 30 May 2010.
